for being with us. i'm steve chenevey. >> and i'm allison seymour. happy tuesday. >> let's look at our forecast with tony perkins today. >> good morning to you and good morning, everybody. let's start with hd radar. we have been tracking some rain showers coming through the area. we have had a couple of areas of heavy rain. a little spot off to the south and east, just south of cambridge, maryland. meanwhile off to the north and west you see counties shaded in. those counties are under a severe thunderstorm warning until 7:30 this morning. it is not in the washington area, but well out to the west and northwestern washington county, northeastern hardy county, hampshire county, western portions of morgan county under a severe thunderstorm warning until 7:30. for us, a couple of light showers here and there. let's go to the graphics and we'll show you the satellite radar for this morning. you see the classic comma shape, the low moving through west virginia and into western portions of pennsylvania, eastern portions of high, dragging a whole lot of precipitation with it, up the east coas
is following the story for us and joins us now with more. sara? >> reporter: tony and allison, fire crews worked late into the evening putting out hot spots at the scene. the fire spread pretty quickly, and firefighters from manassas, prince william county and manassas park were called in to help. officials believe the fire started in the house in the middle and it burned to the ground. >> reporter: this view from sky fox shows you the devastating nature of this fire, three homes side by side up in flames. scores of firefighters virtually powerless to stop it before the damage was done. investigators believe the fire started in the middle house then quickly spread in both directions. >> it's beyond the expression of words. >> reporter: two people did suffer minor injuries. one woman was in shock because of the sight of seeing her home destroyed. >> we got outside, everybody. >> reporter: but the memories, everything inside was destroyed. >> they couldn't save anything. >> reporter: the flames and heat spreading quickly. >> with much fire you need a lot of water and a lot of hoses, a lot o
in northern virginia after an audit uncovered tons of extra money not being used. a four month audit by a team of cpas found hundreds of millions of dollars in accounts that has not been spent. that money is from years offal kateed funds in a carry over account. the governor wants to move ahead with planned projects quickly. >> i want to get the hot lanes on 95 build as soon as possible. we're trying to get that done, it makes no sense to have hot lanes from tysons to the mixing bowl to run into another traffic jam. you have to get them built from the 14th street bridge south. that's a top priority. >> vdot spends $3.3 billion a year constructing and maintaining the highways and secondary roads in the commonwealth. >>> stephen colbert appears on capitol hill this morning, testifying about immigration before a house committee. we get more from fox 5's sherri ly on capitol hill. he's there for a serious reason today. >> reporter: he is, but when people say stephen colbert is testifying, it's like insert joke here, but this is a serious issue. he is testifying on capitol hill today. it has drawn
